Emulysian Fields

Okay, so, CoolROM's admin was kind of bothering me with his lack of caring about his forums. Lots of people were calling for changes, but, I guess he was busy or something. I had been meaning to get into web design and make my own website, so, I decided to make my own forum to start with. I started with proboards... well, they're free, but, you can't do too much. I named the forums Valhalla because I wanted to keep a heaven-type theme. They were okay, and when I finished modding it, I had a post something along the lines of "Valhalla is complete!" Systemeth replied to that thread with "It's not complete until it has Kefka."

Eventually, I got sick of proboards and got some free web space. So, I started with vBulletin and set up the forums. I didn't know what to call them, but, I wanted something that implied heavenly again, however, not Valhalla, as I wanted to make it clear that it was a new, different site. Then, I remembered the Elysian Fields, which is the final resting place of heroes in Greek mythology. I decided to add Emu- to it, to add a gamer touch. I ended up with Emulysian Fields - Final Resting Place of Gamers. I didn't like the slogan. At all.

So, I went with no slogan for a little while. I started adding lots of skins and custom stuff, and I tried to cater to what the members wanted. Systemeth repeated what he'd said earlier about things not being complete without Kefka, so, I put him somewhere in all of my skins, sometimes hidden, and even added a Kefka emoticon. Then, when trying to come up with a new slogan, I realized what it needed to be.

Emulysian Fields - Complete with Kefka

And that's the story of how I came to the name of the site and the slogan. Also, I believe I added something along the lines of "Your place for ROMs, gaming, and emulation" after that, so Google would hate me less. In time though, I took that out.

One day, Kirsdarke came up with the slogan "Where Kefka Would Go if He Had Internet". We all liked it so much, and agreed upon it as the new slogan for EF. Other sections of the site have permutations of the same slogan, like KefkaBin's "Where Kefka Would Paste if He Coded". "Complete with Kefka" is still EF's unofficial slogan though, and remains in most of the header logos.
